The first whisky from Isle of Bute Distillery, named after the lighthouse at the southern tip of the island. Rubh'an eun, pronounced Roo-an-ee-un, is the Gaelic for "Point of the Birds".
At the southern tip of Bute, a small iron lighthouse stands above Glencallum Bay. The bay below it was once a smugglers' haven, shaped by illicit distilling in the glens and whisky carried across the Clyde by night. Bute distilled legally too, at Barone Park, until the trade faded and the island went more than a century without a distillery. This is where we pick it up.
A blend that represents Bute: an island anchored between the Highlands and Lowlands, a rich coastal history, and the beginning of what's to come.
Aroma Heather, honey, dark chocolate, plums and baking spices. Palate Creamy, bright and sweet. Apple, nutty, vanilla, a hint of coastal salinity. Finish Long and lingering, rich, warming, faintly earthy.
